Correspondence chess works similar as known from "live chess", playing chess directly and live with an opponent. There are the same rules of play.

Certainly, some things are changed by the fact your opponent normally is far away from you.

Correspondence chess games naturally last longer than live games in case of the opponents typically do not play the game at the same time.

Tournament chess games or other types of special events possible have some additional rules for the procedure. For example reflection time limits.

• Because communication by E-Mail represents the only connection between KingChess and you, KingChess must at all times be able to contact your E-Mail address, which is given during the process of registration (and can be altered at any later date). If not, your access will unfortunately be blocked until the matter is resolved. The exceeded moment of pause which thus arises is the responsibility of the player only.
• You will, however, be able to determine at any time the frequency, type and extent of the E-Mail messages.
• Only one registration per player can be permitted. The definite text name stated during the process of registration has thus, for this reason, to be correct. If the game system identifies a double registration an automatic closure of the latest established account will take place. With proof of identity a false double registration can be amended.
• When a sustained silence withdrawal is twice recognised an automatic and permanent suspension from the game offer will take place.
• The scores gained will not entitle you to an equal participation at official tournaments of the FIDE and ICCF chess organisations although ranking here takes place in an identical manner.

These conditions should specifically be able to demonstrate the exclusions to prevent misunderstanding and to limit claims..

• Contractual relationships require that the money received be free of bank charges in the full amount as well as a written confirmation by KingChess (by E-Mail). Payments and orders can be turned down by KingChess without the need to provide a statement detailing the reasons. The payments cover the running costs required to maintain the service and the personal commitment needed..
• The provider of KingChess is obliged to provide the necessary technology for the processing of the cost liable parts of the service. The type and scale of the features of the service should correspond to the announced features list. A duty to extend the scale of the features or to maintain those features that exceed the features list does not exist in principle..
• The acknowledged performance of the service applies as long as it made available 90 percent of time in reference to a calendar year..
• There are no claims for personal support, constant availability and answer time behaviour, E-Mail contact. The support will be provided in the public forum without a minimum time for an answer. Periods of time for maintenance will be published on time but do not count as times for non-availability.
• In tournaments, league games and Thematics there are no rights to claim a standardized grading or for judicial decisions. What is significant for the game's operation are the tournament conditions, team conditions and the Thematic conditions as well as the decisions of the leader of the tournament.
• The general terms and conditions of KingChess and especially the rules with regard to exclusion or to blocking stay untouched in the cost liable elements of the offer. The exclusion or blocking of access because of the infringement of the terms and conditions of KingChess will not entitle you to receive reimbursement.
• As soon as acknowledged performances are not fulfilled the offer is deemed to be closed or when other circumstances prevent the continuation of KingChess in the form of the conclusion of the contract there is a claim for reimbursement of the completed payments; these are calculated in a percentage according to the time of the performance, in consideration to the expenditure share amounting to 2.50 EUR (international minimum of 7.50 EUR).
• The terms of payment and the data protection reference are elements of these conditions.
• In the case of a partial invalidity of these terms and conditions all other elements will keep their full validity. German and European law is exclusively authoritative. The application of the UN-law or any other unity law is out of the question.

A repayment may be possible at any time if so requested after the bank charges have been offset for cross border payment transactions and the credit balance is more than 7.50 EUR.
• he fees for periodic payments or any offers will not be reimbursed except with regard to discounts or when specifically marked in the offer.
• When cancelling this offer before the expiry of the regular periodical payments or single offers that are cost liable there will not be a reimbursement of any possible fees apart from the fact when the cancellation is made for a compelling reason (according to the civil code). In this case a repayment of the bank fees for cross border transactions, proportional to the time remaining, will take place as long as the credit note amount exceeds 7.50 EUR.
